AI replies can be wrong#

EVERY REPLY IN CHAT IS GENERATED AUTOMATICALLY BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. IT CAN BE WRONG, INCOMPLETE, OUT OF DATE, BIASED, OFFENSIVE, OR ENTIRELY MADE UP, EVEN WHEN IT SOUNDS CONFIDENT OR CITES SOURCES. YOU USE REPLIES AT YOUR OWN RISK.

• Replies are not medical, mental health, legal, financial, investment, tax, or any other professional advice. For decisions that matter to your health, money, legal position, or safety, ask a qualified person.
• Never rely on Chat in an emergency. If you or someone else may be in danger, contact your local emergency number or a crisis service.
• Check names, numbers, quotes, dates, citations, and links before you act on them or share them. Models can invent all of these.
• Review and test code and commands from a reply in a safe place before you run them, and keep backups.
• Do not use replies, without real human review, to make decisions with legal or similar effects on people, such as hiring, credit, housing, or healthcare.
• Replies are not the views of FreeTheAI. Models can claim an identity, abilities, or knowledge they do not have.

Your chat history#

• Your conversations are saved only in the browser on the device you use. FreeTheAI does not store them on its servers and cannot recover them.
• Clearing your browser data, using a private window, or switching devices or browsers can lose them for good. Download the chats you want to keep: Chat exports to Markdown, a web page, plain text, JSON, or CSV.
• You can delete one chat from its menu, or every chat, saved key, and memory at once from your account menu.
• Compacting a chat, by hand or on its own as the chat fills up, asks the model you chose to summarize it and counts as a message. After that the summary is sent instead of the earlier messages, which stay on your device. A summary is AI output and can leave things out; you can undo it.
• Memories, the facts you ask the AI to remember and lasting ones it saves on its own, stay in your browser and are sent with each message to the model that answers it, on FreeTheAI models and your own connections alike. You can view, remove, or turn them off in Memories.

What passes through FreeTheAI#

• Saving chats in your browser does not keep your messages on your device. When you chat with a FreeTheAI model, your message goes, together with the earlier messages of the conversation, any images, and the text read from any files you attach, through our servers to the model's provider to get a reply. We pass it on and do not keep the text.
• If you use FreeTheAI models and your own connection in the same conversation, the earlier messages go to whichever one answers next.
• If a provider sends back an error, we may keep the error details to fix the problem. In rare cases they can include part of the request.
• We keep usage records for each message, such as the time, the model, its size, and whether it succeeded, to run free allowances and stop abuse. They do not include what you wrote.
• Model providers handle requests under their own practices, and FreeTheAI makes no promise about how they log or use data (Terms section 9). Do not send anything you are not prepared to share with a third party.
• Chat loads no ads and no analytics scripts. More detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Images and documents#

• Images are resized in your browser before sending, which also removes photo location data. Documents are turned into text in your browser.
• Attachments are sent with your message to the model, checked on our side, and not stored by us. Some models cannot read images; Chat tells you before you send.

Your own provider keys#

• For connections you add with your own API key, Chat is only the interface running in your browser. Messages on that connection, with the earlier messages of the conversation, go directly from your browser to that provider. FreeTheAI does not receive, store, pass on, or control that key or those messages, and is not part of your relationship with that provider.
• That provider sees your IP address and may be told the request comes from FreeTheAI Chat. Its terms, content rules, privacy and logging practices, and charges apply, including whether it logs, keeps, or trains on what you send. We are not responsible for them.
• You are responsible for all usage and costs on your key, for following that provider's rules, and for anything it does to your account. Connections to software on your own computer, such as a local model server, are your responsibility too.
• Your key is stored only in your browser. Anyone with access to your device, your browser profile, or a harmful browser extension may be able to use it, so prefer keys with spending limits and remove them before using a shared device. Deleting all chats also removes your keys.

Free allowance and checks#

• Messages on FreeTheAI models count against free allowances that we set and may change at any time. Free models need a daily check-in on FreeTheAI.
• To protect the service, we may refuse to continue a conversation we cannot verify was produced for your account by Chat, and we may ask for extra checks before a message is sent.

Using Chat responsibly#

• Follow the acceptable use rules: nothing illegal; no harassment, fraud, or impersonation; no probing, scraping, or overloading the service or getting around its limits, checks, or security; and no reselling or sharing access.
• One person may hold one account. Do not let anyone else use your account or keys.
• Do not enter passwords, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, health records, or other sensitive personal information about yourself or anyone else.
• You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher.
